Dan
Maydan has been president of Applied Materials since 1994. Prior to
joining Applied Materials, Dr. Maydan spent 13 years managing new
technology development at Bell Laboratories during which time he pioneered
laser recording of data on thin-metal films and made significant advances
in photolithography and vapor deposition technology for semiconductor
manufacturing. In 1998, Dr. Maydan was elected to the National Academy
of Engineering. Over the years, Dr. Maydan has received numerous awards
and honors for his contributions to the global semiconductor industry.
Dr. Maydan received his bachelor of science and masters of science degrees in electrical engineering from the Technion, and holds a doctorate degree in physics from Edinburgh University in Scotland. |

| Pierre
is the Chairman of Vitesse Semiconductor (VTSS), Redback Networks (RBAK),
Plumtree Software and Verisity. He is a Director of Barcelona Design
and Mellanox. He is also working with T-networks. Pierre has been the
Chairman of Cypress Semiconductor (CY), Microchip (MCHP), Combichem
(acquired by Dupont) and a Director of VitalSigns Software (acquired
by International Network Services, LU), Convex Computer (acquired by
HP) and the MarchFirst (MRCH) (formerly USWeb/CKS). Before joining Sequoia
Capital in 1981, Pierre was a founder and technical director of National
Semiconductor and the general manager of Fairchild's Integrated Circuit
Division. He has also been the president of Advent, a consumer electronics
company and Coherent, a manufacturer of lasers. Pierre is a past president
of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists. |

Rajeev Madhavan has served as chief executive officer, president and chairman of the board of directors since he co-founded the company in 1997. Prior to that Mr. Madhavan co-founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Ambit Design Systems, Inc. Mr. Madhavan previously co-founded and served as director of engineering of LogicVision, Inc. Mr. Madhavan received a bachelor's degree in electronics and communication from KREC, Surathkal, India, and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada. |
