The Governor
has signed three bills specifically designed to assist small businesses:
· SB 1436 creates on the State of California Internet
portal a link to state agency Web sites specifically for the use of small businesses
in accessing information regarding startup requirements and regulatory compliance.
· SB
2330 requires the Office of Small Business Advocate to commission a
study of the costs of state regulations on small businesses, and examine successful
models from other states on identifying regulatory costs and developing potential
alternative approaches.
· AB 3058 requires the Office of Small Business Advocate
to add to its duties advocacy on state policy and programs regarding disaster
preparedness and recovery for small businesses, including: providing technical
assistance; developing a Web-based handbook for small businesses on emergency
preparedness, response and recovery; and conducting meetings to share best practices
for small business disaster preparedness.
