Laser Bubble Technologies develops miniature (less than 1mm) engines that convert laser energy into mechanical energy. The technology is based on innovative use of recently understood physical phenomena and can be used to create tiny refrigerators or tiny pumps. The devices have numerous uses in medical devices (e.g. cryo catheters for heart surgery) and in other industries such as very fast inkjet printers. The company is in the midst of raising its seed round. So far Silicom Ventures has raised $50K and got a commitment for another $150K. In addition the company received a government (SBIR) grant which brings $70K in phase one and potentially another $700K in phase two. Laser Bubble is in negotiation with individuals and VCs to complete the round. To get more information on Laser Bubble please contact Gadi.
