DATE: | Wednesday August 26, 2015 | ABSTRACT : | More than 100 trillion microorganisms live in our gut, mouth, skin and other mucosal surfaces of our bodies. These microbes have numerous beneficial functions relevant to supporting life such as digesting food, preventing disease-causing pathogens from invading the body, and synthesizing essential nutrients and vitamins. Stanford professors Justin and Erica Sonnenberg will speak about safe alternatives to antibiotics; dietary and lifestyle choices to encourage microbial health; the management of the aging microbiota; and the nourishment of your own individual microbiome. The Sonnenbergs are also authors of the book, “The Good Gut: Taking Control of Your Weight, Your Mood, and Your Long-term Health”. | ||||||
